Seeing is Believing: Women Direct
A series of interviews with women directors reveals how visionary women leaders navigate their way through a male dominated industry. This multi-part series aims to give concrete “how to” information as well as inspire a new generation of filmmakers to keep taking risks toward their dreams.
The nearly 50 interviewees include Sarah Gavron (Suffragette, Brick Lane), John Wells (ER, West Wing), Meera Menon (Nora Ephron Prize, Equity), Lesli Linka Glatter (EP/Director, Homeland), Leah Meyerhoff (Founder Film Fatales, I Believe in Unicorns), Betty Thomas (the highest grossing female director, The Brady Bunch Movie, John Tucker Must Die), Marianna Palka (Edinburgh Winner, Sundance: Good Dick), Bethany Rooney (200+ episodes of primetime TV, head of DGA Women’s Steering Committee, and co-author of Directors Tell the Story), Deborah Del Prete (Producer, Ender’s Game, The Wedding Planner), and trailblazers like Lizzie Borden (Born In Flames, Working Girls), two time Oscar-winner Sarah Kernochan (Marjoe), Emmy-winner Anne Makepeace (I. M. Pei: Building China Modern, Robert Capa in Love and War), Carla Garapedian (BBC documentary filmmaker, Screamers), blacklisted Oscar-winning actress turned Oscar-winning director Lee Grant, and many more.
The film is fiscally sponsored by The Film Collaborative (“Cameraperson,” “Armor of Light,” “Tab Hunter Confidential”) so any donation you feel inspired to give is fully tax deductible through their not-for-profit status.
The project has recently gone beyond it’s crowdfunding mark of 50K! Check out our In Demand campaign at Indiegogo here: www.bitly.com/GoCady
